Third Sunday in Advent

Cantata this Sunday!

Lloyd Larson has been a prolific composer and arranger for a number of music publishers since the early 1980s. While focusing on church music, Lloyd has also composed for school music programs. Among his most noted works are those for choral and keyboard, some 1,500 publications so far! Over the years, he has worked with many publishers including Shawnee Press, Hope Publishing, Hal Leonard, and the Lorenz Corporation for which he has served as an editor for many years. His music has been enjoyed by millions around the world and on nearly every holiday and special occasion. All throughout his career, Lloyd has focused on providing music that can help others worship, praise and express themselves though music, a goal we all hope he continues!

This Sunday our Sanctuary Choir will perform A Noel Celebration – Sounds and Stories of Christmas by Lloyd Larson. This collaborative cantata looks at the Christmas story through the eyes of first-hand witnesses, who share their unique perspectives on the miraculous birth of Jesus. Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, a shepherd, a wise man, and the aged saint Simeon all share their stories through dramatic monologues. A blend of original and familiar carols provides a dramatic sonic backdrop for these inspiring stories.

Please tell your friends and neighbors to come and hear beautiful carols and stories through music and important characters of the Bible. Directed by Bethany Sherry, Director of Music, Open Hearts Bolivar United Methodist Church.
